What does this course teach?

 

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics.

 

HeartCode® PALS is the AHA’s blended learning delivery method for the AHA’s PALS Course. HeartCode® blended learning delivers quality resuscitation education regardless of where providers are located and gives them more control to complete the course at their own pace. Providers first complete the online portion of HeartCode® PALS and then complete a hands-on skills session with an AHA PALS Instructor or a HeartCode® compatible manikin.

Access to the PALS Provider Manual eBook is included with HeartCode PALS. You will be able to access the Provider Manual from within the course.

This product has been updated with new science from the 2025 Guidelines for CPR and ECC and replaces the previous version (20-3555).

 

HeartCode® PALS uses a personalized adaptive algorithm that sets students on the most efficient path to mastery. Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance, and their self- reported confidence level related to each probing question. The course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probing questions, and Cognitive Assessment Activities (CAAs).

 

Attention Community Members: Registration for this course only covers the cost of the in-person skills check off. You will receive a confirmation email that contains a link to purchase the online adaptive learning course directly through the AHA which is an additional cost ($173) and required to obtain your certification.

To register for courses with in-person components/skills checkoff, select your desired course from the menu on the left.

  • Select "SPH Employee" from the Registration Type dropdown menu. 

 

  • Enter your Employee ID number in the "Additional Information" box to waive course fees.

 

To register for HeartCode Complete courses with a Voice-Assisted Manikin (VAM) skills checkoff, select the "Schedule an Appointment" option above.

  • Select "Education Sim Lab" as the location, and select your desired course type 

*BLS HeartCode Complete is available to all SPH Staff

*ACLS/PALS HeartCode Complete is available to providers, travelers, and experienced SPH Staff that have been approved by their leadership

Payment for all SPH courses is due at the time of registration
